About Dock Builders Pompano Beach
Dock Builders Pompano Beach works on residential waterfront in and around Pompano Beach: new docks, boat lifts, davits, seawalls, dock repair and composite decking for homes on canals and the Intracoastal Waterway. Marinas, commercial piers, dredging projects and oceanfront work seaward of the coastal construction line are outside what we take on.
A canal-front lot in north Broward has a lot going on at once. Salt water eats fasteners and steel, marine borers go after untreated wood, summer storms push water higher than the charts say, and the City of Pompano Beach now ties seawall height to a tidal flood barrier rule. A dock, a lift and a seawall share the same edge of the property, so we plan them together even when you only call about one.
How a job moves
- Site visit. We look at the seawall cap and face, the pilings at the waterline, the deck framing underneath, the water depth at the slip and the boat you keep or plan to keep.
- Written scope. You get a line-by-line estimate: demolition, pilings, framing, decking, hardware, lift or davit, electrical, engineering and permit fees.
- Paperwork. Work over water in Broward County needs a county license before it starts. Depending on the job, state and federal reviews and a city building permit follow. We put that sequence in writing so the calendar is realistic.
- Build. Pilings and structure first, then framing, decking, lifts and wiring, with inspections at the points the permit calls for.
- Walk-through. At the end we go over the lift controls, load limits and what to rinse or check through the year.
Where we stop
If the seawall behind a dock is failing, building a new dock on top of it wastes money, and we will tell you that up front. Seawall designs and many lift installations need drawings sealed by a Florida-licensed engineer; that cost appears on the estimate. Florida requires licensed contractors for this kind of work, so ask to see the license number on any estimate you get, ours included.
